Volcano, who landed the big marathon competition at Harolds Cross before Christmas, was easily the quickest in the Open 790 when pulling clear from the penultimate turn to slam Glorious George by nine lengths in a fast 43.83sec.
Ballymac Bonnie got her legs taken when hitting the front at the fifth turn in the opening qualifier but recovered well to beat Kilcrea Hawk by half a length in 44.73sec.
