Only six spots separate the three heat winners in the Harry Holmes Memorial at Sheffield.
Marginally quickest was La Maqina who turned over favourite On Alert by a length and a quarter in 28.48 (+10) for the 480 metres. The other winners were Save The Don (28.53 by two and a half from Farran Sexton) and Lightfoot Scolar (28.54 four and a half lengths from Biddys Fire).
Elaine Parker dominated the 500 metre Ryan Holmes Puppy Cup heats when taking two of the semis with home bred litter brothers. Candlelight Fire (Ballymac Vic-Droopys Peaches, Apr 14) and Candlelightdream won their heats in 28.78 and 29.29 respectively. The other qualifier went to Barrie Draper’s Ballymac Ramsey (28.83).
