Newlawn Luke came back to form in the semi-finals of the Larry O’Rourke Munster Juvenile Cup over 525 yards at Clonmel on Sunday.
The fastest heat winner disappointed last week but a flying start saw him make the bend in front and he went on to beat Razldazl Rince by three and a half lengths in 28.83sec.
Odds-on favourite Ballymac Belle never got into the race.
Jacqueline McCann’s Eightythreelarch caught the favourite Sound Investment on the line in the second qualifier to score by half a length in 28.92sec.
Liam Dowling’s Ballymac Scala went quickest in the Roseanne McIlhone Memorial Unraced Stake semi-finals over 525 yards.
The Ballymac Vic bitch was soon clear to beat Droopys Etoile by two and a half lengths in 28.82sec.
Many of the better fancied runners were withdrawn from the second eliminator, in which Nanny Brien made all to slam Mountaylor Queen by over 11 lengths in 29.21sec.
