There was a major shock in the semi-finals of the Red Mills & NTSC Open bitch Unraced Stake over 525 yards at Newbridge on Friday.
Fraser Black’s Droopys Streak, who scored in the second round in a fastest of the year 28.22sec, went to traps the 1-3 favourite but found plenty of early trouble and was eliminated.
The race went to Brian Fennelly’s Cashmerefinn who had led off the second turn and went on to beat Pennys Iona by four lengths in 28.87sec.
The bookies were also celebrating after the 4-6 favourite Badminton Girl was beaten in the second semi-final.
Maria Kennedy’s Local Dancer led from the opening turn and went on to hold the favourite by a neck in 28.81sec.
