SHEFFIELD is beefing up its programme for their first major programme on their 2015 schedule.
The South Yorkshire circuit announced that they were increasing the value of this year’s Coors Queen Mother Memorial Cup from £2,500 to £4,000 and now they are introducing a new event that will coincide with the feature.
The BresMed Puppy Sprint Cup will be for 18 greyhounds over the 280-metre course, with 18 entries being divided into three heats on Tuesday, march 10, with the first two in each progressing to a £1,000-to-the-winner final on Sunday, March 15.
There will also be opportunities for trainers to have a look round with their youngsters as the racecourse is planning Trial Stakes for the new race on Tuesdays, February 24 and March 3.
Sheffield managing director Dave Perry says: “BresMed Director Nic Brereton is well known as a greyhound owner and he has helped out with sponsorship in the local owners’ association, but this is their first race sponsorship and we are delighted to welcome them aboard.”
