Kevin Boothby has unveiled the starting traps for the 2022 Greyhound Derby which have been slightly upgraded compared to the current version.
The changes are subtle but important. They relate to the two catches seen at the bottom of the traps (between traps 1/2 and 5/6).
Dave Boothby explains: “The current set have metal wheels which works well most of the time. But if sand gets trapped underneath them, the connection isn’t as good and they move slightly. These new versions have hooks which don’t move at all so the front of the traps won’t move with the dogs in them.”
The new boxes will be painted and liveried out due for delivery early in the new year. Barring the external mechanical tweak, they are identical to the current traps.
