Forest Natalee gave notification of future stardom with a stunning sprint trial at Swindon on Tuesday.
The dark brindle puppy covered the 280 metres in 16.14 before a going allowanace of .10 slow. She had previously trialled in 16.26 (-10). To put those times into perspective, Jimmy Lollie’s track record stands at 15.90.
Natalee is from the astonishing litter by Ballymac Vic out of Droopys Danneel who will not pass their second birthday until May, and is handled by Kevin Hutton, who steered the dam to the 2013 Oaks victory.
He said: “They were reared by Paddy Kehoe who has produces so many good “Forest” dogs, and we have been fortunate to have a few of them. I bought Natalee when I went over the Derby last year as a potential brood bitch and I can’t believe how good she looks.
“She only has two races on her card. Her first ever race was in the heats of the Puppy Oaks when she ran really well to reach the final. She produced no sort of run at all in the final but we had sickness in the kennel and she went down with it after we got her home.
“Last week’s was a good run, this week’s was exceptional, when you think Face The Blade clocked 16.40. I am not sure where we go with her yet. I would like to keep her against bitches or pups and there is a 480 stakes at Nottingham in a couple of weeks, then the Puppy Derby at Monmore.”
Hutton has three of the litter and Natalee’s brother Dorotas Wildcat (a 29.62 – 500m – open race winner at Nottingham on debut), trialling over the Swindon 480 metres at the same session. He clocked 28.64 (-20) while brother Dototas Del Mar has won two of his three opens including a calculated 28.74 at Swindon.
Other comrades include Seamus Cahill’s Forest Con (28.45 Wimb 480m), and Charlie Lister’s Dorotas Hooligan (28.63 480m Notts) and Dorotas Woo Hoo (27.49 480m Sheff).
