While many tracks are struggling to fill graded cards, Monmore’s is so strong that they have branched into graded 684m races.
On Thursday they will stage an E1 (Winners £185, 2nd £55, others £45) and an E3 (Winners £135, 2nd £55, others £45) in addition to their regular 630 metre events.
Racing manager Tony Williamson said: “We will see how they go and after speaking to our trainers on which dogs stayed the trip best, we will move to graded marathons. If they seem successful and the dogs come of well, we will continue further into the year.”
All this will come as a bonus with no cutting back on the open race fixtures.
Williamson said: “ It’s pleasing to be having consistent entries for our Thursday open races with a good standard of entry. They our relished by our locals and along with the quality of greyhounds on our trainers’ strengths enable us to put on some great racing.
“We have some good owners at the track and going onto Racing Post TV gives their dogs a chance to shine to a larger audience.”
