Monmore racing manager Tony Williamson is not at all fazed by SKY pulling the plug on the track’s biggest day of the year – Thursday August 18.
The meeting will feature the Ladbrokes sponsored finals of the £10,000 Gold Cup, the £7,500 Stayers Classic plus the £2,000 KAI Laidlaw Beautiful Boy Trafalgar Cup – the first two of which close at 11am on Monday morning.
He said: “I am delighted that we’ll be on RPGTV who do a fantastic Job to enhance and provide a great platform for greyhound racing in the UK.”
Last Thursday meeting featured several leading contenders and Williamson was particularly taken with the track craft shown by Making Paper as he produced the fastest time seen at the track this year, 27.96, on going rated .10 slow. He had also won on his last visit to the track in a calulated 27.96.
The Stayers Classic promises to be just as competitive; on the same card Mossvale Ace equalled the 37.37 recorded by Blonde Fletch five years ago, but was chased home by Mustang Golden and Shellam Delano, only getting home by a length and the same.
As far as the Trafalgar Cup is concerned, all eyes will be on Droopys Trapeze, should Jimmy Wright decide to swerve the Gold Cup.
