Today’s Lawrence Jones Memorial meeting at Monmore has been abandoned due to a frozen track.
General manger Paul Mason said: “We salted well last night and we don’t know how cold it was, we think about -5 degrees and it just made the track unraceable. It may have improved enough by later today but with people travelling large distances, we couldn’t take that chance.
“We will speak to the family to see if it can be re-arranged but it cannot be immediately because we realise that a lot of the runners will have alternative commitments. At the end of the day though, the dog’s welfare has to come first.”
