With fewer and fewer UK rearing options available for British breeders, Shropshire based Dave Titterton has seen an opportunity and is creating an impressive new Monkspath Kennel set-up near Bridgnorth.
It is the base of Monmore trainer Arun Dunn and although the two set-ups are on the same premises, they have entirely different ambitions.
Dave said: “We have access to 11 paddocks, plus separate paddocks with pods, a swimming pool and an all-weather gallop on 10 acres which is owned by Pam Burford.
“I have dogs with Arun but my background is with horses and it was the rearing that always appealed to me.
“We don’t plan to rear more than four or five litters at any one stage and once they reach 12 months, they go away to be schooled. Our own pups are actually schooled by Arun.
“We have had a lot of interest already. Carl Perry has been to see the set-up and plans to send some bitches to us, and I think Kevin Hutton will be sending us bitches surplus to what he can manage himself.”
Among the 2020 litters are some Feb’s by Pat C Sabbath/Headford Lacken plus a litter by Skywalker Rafa out of Lightfoot Comet. Plus some April pups by Dorotas Vic out of Ballyregan Peg and some October pups by Aero Majestic out of Fridays Marie.
Dave said: “We also have Flyhigh Ollyhaz who has just been mated to Magical Bale, plus three more bitches who are waiting to come here if they are proven in whelp.”
