Romford racing manager O’Dowd is delighted with the response to the track’s two-run ‘monkey’ competitions and intends to extend the run in the fixture schedule.
He said: “We introduced them because we noticed that entries for our category one and three events had held up strongly, but runners for the one-offs had slowed up.
“We used to run the smaller competitions on Mondays, but Fridays give us more flexibility due to the fact that Mondays are BAGS/BEGS meetings when maiden events are not necessarily welcome.
“We have scheduled dual distance events, maidens and competitions over our two main distances. The only disappointment was the ‘winner of one’ event, which appears to have confused trainers.
“It shouldn’t do really, it simply means the runner cannot have won more than open race, which includes maiden opens.”
The track’s most prolific winner in 2015 is Evanta Fantasy with nine wins in 14 outings.
If you had bet £10 on every time she went to traps at London Road, you would be winning £125.50.
