Monday was a bad night for Nottingham as all seven open race favourites were turned over – including four at odds-on.
Shortest of the lot was Bockos Bolasie (4-7f) in the heats of the Betfred Standard won by Oscasupreme (7-2) in 30.04 for the 500m (all +30). Similar fates befell other heat favourites Keplar Nine (4-5f), turned over by Alfies Prince (6-1) in 29.92 and Killdallon Bolt (11-10f), last behind 29.75 winner Danzey Exception (6-1).
Martin White’s Vahsel Bay‘s 28.75 run in the heats of a 480m novice puppy competition suggested his 12-1 SP was way off the mark. Favourite Dorotas Vic (4-5f) was third. Swift Asbolos (4-5f) was expected to take the other qualifier but was beaten a black head by Thistlecrack (3-1) in 28.89.
The opens started with Baran Texas (6-4f) turned over by Nanny Cakes (2-1) in the 680m open (42.02 -40). It ended in the £500 480m decider won by the in-form Ballymac Jamie (3-1) in 28.71 with Stay Lucky (7-4f) in last place
