August 30 has been wiped from the memory of the Tipsters Challenge. Two tipsters, no winners. Nothing that even vaguely looked or smelled like a winner. Nothing that could have been genetically modified to become a winner.
Tony Collett has been dismantled with his pride and joy used to train fox hounds. (That’s the ‘fully grown’ syrup, not the smart ‘I’ve just been to the barbers’ syrup). Big Patrick has been put on a ferry back to Ostend.
Where was Boom McNair when you need him?
NOTTINGHAM
The return of local bookie Mal Shenton should be interesting – seem to remember he was a bit tasty of his last attempt.

Distant Village (R12 T6) Just a matter of time until Matt Dartnall’s Distant Village really takes off around here and puts his name firmly amongst the leading contenders for the forthcoming Derby. Felt his way around the track in his first look around in a trial a couple of weeks ago and again showed his lack of local knowledge of the venue when totally blowing the fourth turn in a trial stakes last week having shown excellent pace down the back. He should be much better for those two sighters and in a race where the track looks likely to become congested up the middle to inside , I fancy that Village can put himself into a prominent position by halfway and firmly take command as they head into the third bend at the latest £100 win

Goldsmith Teddy (R1 T4) Glenside Jack looks certain to lead for Adrian McPherson but he drops in a hole late and I fancy he’ll tee the race up nicely for the Terry Munslow trained Goldsmith Teddy
£30 win.
Droopys Bargain (R4 T6) I was really impressed with Droopys Bargain a couple of weeks ago when winning in this grade of A2. The race in question was led by a dog from my own kennel Salacres Mafia. Usually when Mafia leads clear it would be game set and match , the fact that Bargain came through and beat him comfortably despite hitting trouble in running shows that he was a greyhound ahead of his grade. He was upped to A1 for just one outing and now drops immediately back to the scene of a very comfortable success. It’s a reasonable enough A2 and our Forest Mike owned by the Exodus Syndicate arrives here in good form , I think even he would struggle to hold off Bargain though given any kind of luck in running for Lynn Cook’s charge £30 win.
Borna Shelly (R10 T4) Has had a trial and then a race here a couple of weeks ago. Showed all kinds of pace in defeat and just a matter of time until Joanne O’Neill’s dog gets off the mark here in the UK. We’ve bought in Kopites Legend last week with one eye on breeding in the future , this race is just for a bit of experience really and on what I know of her she’ll likely turn left from her trap 3 berth , this should give Shelly plenty of room and though Fools Gold will be trying to come across , Shelly is a big lad and he’s more than capable of holding his own to the corner before really opening up along the back straight and coming home an impressive winner £30 win £10 treble.

Goldsmith Teddy (R1 T4) Has enough early to clear the inside trio and will hopefully have enough in hand come the finish to hold off Dotty Dot who is sure to be making late inroads £50 win.
Unkind Hands (R5 T6) If I were to have put this runner in my tissue at 14/1 as the Racing Post have tonight , Steve Charlesworth would have been chasing me out of Nottingham waving his fists at me again. I’m known for offering unfathomable value at times which usually results in my fellow tipsters taking my pants down but there is no way even I’d be daft enough to put this one in at such a price. Comes back into tonight’s race off the back of an excellent 17.87 sprint trial and what this son of Droopys Nidge lacks in stature he more than makes up for in heart. The pack will be closing late on but he can have enough in hand £25 win.
Swift Conquest (R6 T1) Back on familiar ground and now in the hands of Peter Harnden’s Salacres Racing Team. Didn’t run badly at all on her first run back at Nottingham last week which came in a high class A1 and takes a drop to A2 for this evening’s engagement. That said this is a good quality A2 event , I’d say that the grade at Nottingham has improved since Conquest was last racing here so she will need to be sharp at the lids. Chance if holding her pitch around the first two bends £25 win.
YARMOUTH
The burning question, as they would say in Norfolk. ‘Is that ole Cash Machine bruck?’ We will find out later.

A typical hard Yarmouth card again first bet is Greencraft Jet (R2 T3) t. This giant of a dog keeps finding trouble but with two slow breakers inside him should lead tonight and hold on from a field of strong finishers. £50 win.
Jura Go Zoe (r10t2) a veteran bitch which is holding her form very well and I fancy to hold off T5 to the bend and set sail for home with either T5 or T3 for the forecast £50 win

Three selections for me tonight starting with Ryves Spencer (R7 T2) . Paul Whitwood’s dog is all about early pace and looks nailed on to make the bend in front which would ruin the chances of T3 and T4 who also need to lead. A lack of recent races is a worry but did trial back in well enough. Hoping he can put enough daylight between himself and the 1 who will be coming late and fast £30 win
My best bet is Aberlady (R9 T4). This former A1 bitch will have to look lively at the start as the 3 will be edging across but she’s normally very reliable in that department, one of her regular 5.30 odd sectionals should be enough to see her make the corner in front and set sail for home £40 win
My final selection is Hard Margin (R11 T6). As his owner, I hope I’m not letting my heart rule my head here, but this does look a slightly easier A1 than he has been contesting recently. He does lack a yard of pace to the corner which invariably puts him in trouble and he’s had some rough rides of late. If he can negotiate the first two bends unscathed, he’s as fast as anything in here. £30 win
Nigel ‘Cash Machine’ Tanner
Germania Jaxx (R4 T6) This bitch showed good all round pace last week to finish second and could put this race to bed by the third bend for Pam Cross £100 win
