STUNNING would be the only word to describe the race debut of Roxholme Nidge (Droopys Nidge-Silver Dollar,Nov 15) at NOTTINGHAM on Monday night.
Hayley Keightley’s orange jacketed brindle, who only has one trial line of form in Ireland and had broken 30.00 for 500m in his qualifying trials, went to trap at 8-11f and destroyed his field by seven lengths in 28.48 (+40) for the 480 metres. The time was just half a length off the fastest time of the year.
The run overshadowed two very more very useful performances in the remaining heats of the 18 runner puppy stake, First up was a ten length win for Farloe Slippy (Premier Fantasy-Farloe Brooke, Aug 15) who clocked 28.67 and a 28.76 win for Droopys Rob (Tullymurry Act-Greenwell Mo, Sep 15).
Meanwhile of the 500m trip, Donation (Droopys Cain-Delightful Flyer, Jul 15) improved on his personal best with a 29.48 (+40) victory – another FOY.
Sheffield runners had another good night at Monday’s DONCASTER meeting though it was Darren Golightly’s locally trained Burnfoot Dolly (Kinloch Brae-Amber Bound, Sep 14) who was the star of the show after landing the £500 final over 450 metres.
Going for a 185-1 four-timer, the home bred led up Charlie Lister’s Bellmore Neymar and never relinquished the advantage coming home a length and three quarters clear in 28.33 on a rain sodden track rated at -60.
The four Sheffield winner included a double for Elaine Parker with Lighfoot Scolar (Droopys Scolari-Light Foot Molly, Oct 13) with a 28.00 (-40) for 450m and Mexican Peso who clocked 42.72 for the 661m on a guesstimated allowance of -110. Sean Davy’s Theos Rocket (Tullymurry Act-Athboy Fantasy, Aug 15) landed the 450m puppy open in 28.17 (-40) with the fourth winner for the raiders was Barry Draper’s Rapper Station (Archaton Pine-Shifting Woman, Jan 14) with a 17.09 (-20) victory in the sprint.
Star stayer Shellam Delano was withdrawn but Angela Harrison still picked up a North East ‘Droopys’ double for with Droopys Five (Loughteen Blanco-Droopys Cyclone, Feb 14) with a 30.04 (-70) win over 450 metres while track record holder Droopys Country (Aero Majestic-Droopys Coast, Aug 14) produced the performance of the night with a 14 length win over the short four bends in 28.01 (-70).
