Less than three lengths separated the times of the four winners in the second round of the William Hill St Leger over 687 metres at Wimbledon on Saturday.
Last week’s standard setter Diego Flight was again the quickest when pulling clear off the second turn to eventually beat a staying on Borna Champ by almost six lengths in 41.67sec.
Doncaster St Leger runner-up Romany Rouge was eliminated.
Swansalona Diva was back to her best in the opening heat.
Kevin Hutton’s bitch was soon clear and held off the late flourish of Ribble Atom by a short head in 41.71sec.
Defending champion Roxholme Dream suffered her first defeat at Wimbledon in the third qualifier. She led by four lengths at one stage but Kent St Leger winner Droopys Tamera wore her down to get up and score by a length and a half in 41.90sec.
Millwards Teddy, who many hoped would go on to outright victory in memory of his late owner Mitch Millward, who died this week, sadly broke a hock of the second turn in heat four when in the rear.
Teejayspowerhawk led for most of the way but was passed on the last turn by Fizzypop Buddy, who went on to score by three and a half lengths in 41.84sec.
