Kirby Memorial runner-up Rural Hawaii (Head Bound-Duck Fat, May 13) was soon clear in the fourth qualifier and went on to beat Tollgate Blake by three and a half lengths in 28.67sec.
Brendan Matthews’ Leave At Dawn got first run on Kirby Memorial third Country Legend in heat three to score by two lengths in 28.68sec.
Pat Buckley’s Mallory got a bullet break in the sixth qualifier and went on to score by a length and a half from Extra Spark in 28.74sec.
Pat’ Brother Jimmy got on the score sheet with Jumeirah Mikey in heat eight when spread-eagling his field to come home eight lengths clear in 28.83sec.
Absolutely Ace left trouble behind in the opening heat to run out a two and a half length winner over Piercestown Nial in 28.75sec.
Graham Holland’s Calzaghe Clampet was the only other runner to break the 29 second barrier when giving a start and a three and a half length beating to Trinity Forest in 28.84sec.
