The Television Trophy roadshow appeared on the Towcester horizon last night and Ribble Atom took centre stage.
Mark Wallis’ former A3 grader set a new 906 metre track record of 55.46 on going rated .75 fast. It was the longest distance thus encountered by the half sister to Domino Stormo and Swift Hoffman and she was led to the last bend by Bubbly Time.
Wallis would have been expected to land the other trialstake with recent Irish import Sosaidhs Blue, but she was surprisingly picked up by Lodge Lady who clocked a 56.94 on normal going.
Earlier, reigning TV champ King Kane produced an awesome 480 trial run of 27.95, just eleven spots outside Domino Storm’s track record.
Droopys Cottage also produced a very impressive sighter with a two and a half length 28.10 trial victory over kennelmate Droopys Tamera.
* Mark Wallis trained hounds now hold the track records over all five distances 269n-Cloudbursting, 480m-Domino Storm, 655m Billys Bullet, 686m-Vanrooney, 906m Ribble Atom
** Former Towcester record holder Supreme Rossie was marked “not chasing” when clocking 40.91 (calc) for Monmore’s 630 metres last week.
