A treble for the recently arrived Aidan McPherson and a double for Monday night tipster Mark Pierrepont were the highlights of Nottingham’s Monday night card.
The runner who connects the two stories is local grader Honour Pumba (Lemon Pumba-Lemon Velvet, Mar 15). The former Shawfield and Doncaster runner was one of three tips for Pierrepont and was returned at 4-1 when narrowly landing an A4 in 31.11.
McPherson had four runners on the night, the second was beaten, but Honour Rocket (11-4) and Honour Turbo (4-1) both picked up minor opens.
Pierrepont, who tipped 2/3 last week, missed out with his second fancy, Colbazkev (3rd) but 5-4 nap Princess Aurora duly obliged in a Nottingham Oaks Final.
In terms of being in-form though, few can touch Corrin Price’s Derby Blake (Laughil Blake-Gold Supreme, Nov 15) who won the fastest heat of a 255m competition in 15.15 (N). It was the Monmore A2 runner’s seventh win in his last nine outings
