Assistant trainer Rab McNair has been delighted by the trials of his British bred Kings and Queens, and is already trying to plan ahead.

He said: “They have all had two sprint trials at Central Park and I have been delighted with the lot of them. Sheeran went particularly well on Friday. I plan one more sprint and then a four bend trial for each of them. I can’t thank Central Park enough for accommodating us with trials. I am not sure that they will be able to grade them and so I am obviously looking further ahead.

“I know that I am not just speaking for ourselves, but it would be nice to get some clarity on the Derby situation. I realise that we are restricted on where we can go at the moment, but if you are going to stage a Derby, the trainers will need some time for preparation. Asking around, I would think most kennels would have their dogs fit enough by the middle of July, and we are into June at the start of next week.”
