Paradise Maverik looked back to his best in the semi-finals of the Gain Dog Food Irish Cesarewitch over 600 yards at Mullingar on Saturday.
Pat Buckley’s runner, who I the Waterford record holder, few out of the boxes and was soon well clear, eventually beating useful Shelbourne runner Native Hut by 13 lengths in 33.02sec, the fastest time of the year.
The time was just ten spots off Mick Savings’s track record set eight years ago.
Trevor Cummins’s Coolronan Bigmac landed the other qualifier in trap to line fashion beating Droopys Bomber by a length in 33.66sec
