I recently wrote a piece in the newspaper talking about how many greyhound folk seamlessly switched from independent racing to GBGB.
This morning I took a subscription from Keith Rudman who was on his way to Romford from Lancashire.
Keith was travelling to see one of the most prolific winners at the track, Dower Matt. What I hadn’t realised is that Matt is a former Westhoughton grader.
Keith said: “I bought him out of Youghal at about 22 months old and he ran at Westhoughton as ‘Corker’.
“He was very hard to beat there. He won his last race at odds-on, and I realised it was time to move him on.
“I have a few runners with Ernie Gaskin who I have always rated very highly, and he and Matt have done me proud.”
