Champion trainer Mark Wallis sent our half of the 14 open race winners at Romford on Friday night – a whole week’s worth of success, as revealed in his column recently, to average one winner for every day of the year.
Wallis took 14 runners to London Road for seven winners, two seconds and two fifths. The winners returned at 4-1, 2-1, 5-1, 3-1, 4-5, 8-1 and 2-5f. If you had placed a £10 bet on every one you would have come out £232 in front.
Although Ribble Aon won the night’s £500 575m final, the kennel’s star of the night was undoubtedly Aayamza Breeze (Aero Majestic-Kiltrea Ally, Feb 15) who looks like being the kennel’s next superstar. Impressive on debut at Sheffield recently, she had come through the field to win well.
On Friday night, tackling the eight bend 750 metre course, she showed there is much more to her repertoire. Off a brilliant fron running 23.76 sectional – faster than Calco Flyer in the 400 open – she pulled away to win by more than 12 lengths in 46.99 (+30).
But Breeze is not the only runner who demonstrated superstar potential on the night. In ‘Robs Romford Roundup’ Rab McNair gave a very strong endorsement of the chances of King Elvis (Tullymurry Act-Skate On, Oct 15) and there was plenty 7-2 about the youngster who romped up in a brilliant 23.94.
