Blackstone Marco (Head Bound-Blackstone Mini, Dec 11) goes into his final race on next Wednesday’s SKY card with connections hoping he can end his career on a high by completing an open race seven-timer. Win number six came in a £750 final at Towcester on Tuesday night with the 11-10f showing no signs of wear and tear as he beat Famias Hope by three and a half lengths in 29.53 (-10) for the 500 metre course.
It was the 89th race of a UK open race career with highlights including a Henlow Cesarewitch (for Mark Wallis) and an Anglo-Irish event at Towcester for Heather Dimmock.
She said: “He is a lovely dog in the kennel but there aren’t a lot of races around for him and the owners didn’t want him to end up running graded as he gets older.”
