Madabout Eoghan produced a memorable race debut when setting a new track record for Towcester’s 500m Derby trip.
John Mullins’ 18 month old previously unraced pup, who had qualified with a 28.25 (calc) time for the 480m, was rated a 5-2 chance when taking on the highly rated Dorotas Wildcat in the RPGTV Puppy Open.
The brindle bombed away off a 5.18 sectional and was soon pursued by the 4-7f. Wildcat was forced to check on at least three occasions and undoubtedly lost more than the length and a half final deficit as Eoghan crossed the line in 29.16.
It was nevertheless an outstanding debut by the Kerry bred son of Kinloch Brae and Swift Rush whose previous progeny include Confident Rankin – the sire of Clares Rocket.
