GLENPADDEN LORD earned his first piece of silverware at Sheffield on Tuesday, but it unlikely to be the last writes John Forbes.
He led through the first bend and escaped from some scrimmaging round the penultimate turn to retain control of the race, which he won by half a length from his litter brother Glenpadden Chief, who had started favourite, in a calculated 29.24 (-10) for the 500 metres.
The May 2013 siblings are from a very promising looking litter from a mating between Ace Hi Rumble and Glen Padden Bay and another of their siblings made a successful debut for Draper in open company on the same card.
Glenpadden Rock had been impressing in trials so it was no surprise to see him start a hot favourite for the race, which he dominated throughout cruising home a four and threequarter-length winner from Renasup Gene in an excellent 27.93. There will be more to come from this one as well.
