When Westmead Lola won Saturday’s Summer Trophy final at Crayford, she was winning twice her purchase price.
Following her twelfth victory in her last 14 races, join owner Terry Smith revealed: “Mr brother and I were at Nick’s (Savva) for schooling and she looked a cracker. We enquired about her and Nick said, ‘you paid good money for (Westmead) Alexis who hasn’t done as well as I thought, so you can have her for nothing’.
“In the end, he accepted £500 for her, but then gave me Westmead Silvio. That really says so much about the man and his integrity.”
