Any connections thinking of sneaking under the Perry Barr radar to nick an easy few quid in the Black Country on Saturday night might be in for a rude awakening.
Monmore’s Lawrence Jones Memorial Meeting features ten opens and three graded finals – each worth £1,000 to the winner, £100 all others – and generously sponsored by Chris and Linda Jones.
The big draw on the night is the treble Cat One winner Links Maverick who goes in the last race on the card. But he is far from the only attraction. There is Derby runner-up in Cochise who has stumbled across two hounds no doubt hoping for a penalty kick transition to six bends in Ballymac John and Brinkleys Magic. Oops.
As for the sprint that includes Hopes Knight, Gougane Jet, Dubh Gasta and Laughil Flash . . . where is the easy money there? There is a very decent puppy race and fabulous to see a good quality event for the ‘pensioners’ in race 3.
