June Harvey’s runner came out in front, while the hot favourite Diego Flight started last and was in early trouble.
Harvey said afterwards: “What a dog. I’ve been running the race over my mind for the past few nights and everything went right.
“He looked like a St Leger dog for a while and this is only his 14th race ever. He gives 100% each time and hopefully can go on to win more big races.”
Pat Buckley’s runner, who had come from off the pace in the heats and semi-finals, came away in front helped by as vacant box on his outside, which was to be occupied by lame kennelmate Droopys Nine.
The further he went the further he pulled clear and he came home almost nine lengths clear in 27.97sec, two spots off the track record.
Buckley said afterwards: “I knew he was capable of a fast break and he did it when it mattered. I said he wouldn’t be far off the clock if he came away.
“He will be put away now for next year’s Derbies and will lie on his bed over the winter. He’s not two until April and looks an exciting prospect.”
Blue Bees Bolt was s surprise 10-1 winner of the RFS Sprint over 273 metres.
The hot favourite Ballybee Brewery missed the break while Jim Reynolds’ runner got away to a flyer and went on to beat by Who Needs Pace by two and a half lengths in 16.06sec.
One of the owners said afterwards: “He’d been flying at Romford but has never been here before. We thought he’d run well and he ran a cracker.”
Another favourite Mustang Milo bit the dust in the RFS Maiden Stakes over 480 metres.
Local runner King Dan led from start to finish to hold off Mustang Milo by two lengths in 28.64sec.
Brendan Keogh, part of the KSS Syndicate that owns him said: “He’s come on a tonne since grading in at the track. He started in A5 and has progressed to winning an A1 the other night and now this. He’s going the right way.
“The dog is also the first runner by our old kennel star Shaneboy Spencer.”
Another favourite Juvenile winner Ballymac Brogan was beaten after stumbling badly at the start in the RFS Standard over 480 metres.
Liz McNair’s King Alley, another KSS Syndicate owned runner, took advantage and made all to beat My Real Muttley by half a length in 28.59sec.
Rab McNair said afterwards: “He loves trap six at Wimbledon. We didn’t know if he was short of a run but he held on well.”
There was another favourite Forest Sara beaten after a very slow start in the William Hill Exclusive Offers takes over 480 metres.
Sneezys Lily led to the third turn where she was joined by Jaytee India, who virtually pulled up.
This left June Harvey’s 16-1 shot Garryglass Sara clear and she went on to beat the favourite by almost here lengths in 28.93sec.
Beachy Head was another big priced winner of the William Hill Hotbox Marathon.
Claude Gardiner’s 8-1 shot came through to take over the lead from the pace-setting High Falcon and went on to hold hot favourite Burgess Borna by a length in 56.12sec
A kennel spokesperson said afterwards: “She’s been running well over trips too short for her and we thought that she would go well.”
Fire Height Tosh was a third winner for the KSS Syndicate when landing the William Hill standard over 480 metres.
Aimnfire was left clear after first bend crowding but Fire Height Tosh was close enough and hit the front near the line to score by half a length in 28.77sec.
Trainer Liz McNair said: “He was unlucky in the Henlow Derby Final and deserved this.”
