Star Sports Bookmakers English Derby runner Kilara Lion had his first run out since returning to the Alex Hopkins kennel from Patrick Janssen on Wednesday morning at Nottingham.

Recording 18.37 in a 305m solo Hopkins declared herself happy with the run out on a track officially given normal but one that appeared significantly heavier on the inside rail.

Hopkins said “It was a pleasing enough run and I’d definitely say the track was a fair bit slower than the official normal allowance on the ground which Lion run. He’ll be checked out and so long as all is well he’ll be stepped up to 480m next week. There’s no rush with him he’s a top class dog and we’ll just take it one step at a time. It’s great to have him back in the kennel it’s give us all a real lift”.
