GBGB Trainers Representative Peter Harnden has responded to John Mullins’ statement yesterday in which it was suggested that trainers should have been consulted prior to decisions being made to alter the structure of the open race Calendar.
Harnden said: “I am not on the committee that made the decision to make the changes, but I was made aware of the plans while serving on a different committee. I cannot go into any specific detail as to who was in the meeting or what was said, other than to say that I did express my views.
“But I entirely take on board what John said. He is a top bloke and well respected in this industry and I apologised for not having brought these changes to the attention of trainers once I became aware of them.
“This is not the first time that this sort of thing has happened and although I can’t be expected, or even allowed, to tell trainers everything that is going on, I accept that whenever there are significant issues that affect them, I will do my best to get feedback before giving my views to the Board.”
