Perry Barr Racing Manager Martin Seal is predicting a top class ARC Laurels following some more superb trialstakes and trial session on Thursday.

Quickest of the trialstake winners – but only just – was Lautaro, while treble Cat One winner Jaguar Macie produced a flying trial. The first round takes place next Thursday April 14.

Martin said: “The trials and trialstakes have been outstanding. We only have two entries in the book so far though it doesn’t close until 11am on Monday. So far we haven’t had many ‘wides’ on show, so the draw could be significant.”

So – of all those on show, pick three to progress.

Martin said: “The first would have to be Lautaro; he looks an absolute monster. He got stopped and was forced to check last night and still got the job done. It will be interesting to see what he achieves when he presumably moves up in distance.

“I would also have to go for the defending champion, Havana Class. He was magnificent once again on his return to the track. He is as brave as a lion, has blistering early pace and although he barely gets the 480 metres, once again they will have to catch him.

“I would also be looking to Richard Rees’ Burnchurch Mick. He has such a lovely fluid motion and looks as though he has taken to the track.”

The best of the rest?

“You would have to say that Jaguar Macie was particularly impressive in her trial. The tractor had been around a couple of times after the previous trials, hence the difference in going allowance, but the time says it all. Having said that, I thought the runner-up Feora Noel was also impressive on the eye and I would expect him to improve.”
