Irish sprint star Ardnasool Jet could be a surprise entry for the Bredmed Northern Sprint if a UK base can be found for Cathal McGhee’s Irish star.

Jet, whose race record is 10 wins, 2 seconds and 3 thirds from 15 races is currently defending his Irish Sprint Cup title at Dundalk.

Carl Perry, speaking on behalf of the sponsors said: “Cathal is keen to run the dog if we can find a we can find someone to put him up during the competition. I would find a kennel myself but I am two and a half hours away. Anybody who can help out can make contact with Cathal through the Sheffield racing office. Given the level of prize money, we are hoping that there will be other Irish entries.”

The Bresmed, which gets underway over the Sheffield 280m course on Tuesday April 16 carries some of the highest ‘also ran’ prize money in the Calendar. In addition to the £8,000 to the winner of the final, the runner-up collectes £2,000, the third placed runner gets £1,250 with the other finalists taking home £1,000 each for three runs.
