It has been almost a month since the last catch-up and as you can see from the table, four runners have reached the 150 mark.
Kilara Hagler (Oct 16), trained at Doncaster by Sue Watson is actually on the 151 mark and won races 149 and 151.
Slaneyside Nevin (Jul 17) is trained by Tom Edgar at Newcastle. Another who has contested 151 races and is currently running with merit it A4.
Bit View Adri (Jun 17) has been racing for Elaine Saville for three and a half years at Nottingham. Her career peaked in A3, but she is still contesting A5.
Me Me Me (Aug 16) is the oldest of the quartet. She made her Yarmouth debut back in December 2017.
Pam Cross’s is one of five Yarmouth runners on the list, though interestingly, she isn’t the oldest runner at the track.
That honour goes to Lu Lu My Baby who is not only a kennelmate of Me Me Me, she is her older half sister.
Whelped in September 2015, ‘Lu Lu’ is by Kinloch Brae out of Riverside Lucy (Me Me Me is by Farneys Cookie) and we believe she is currently the oldest greyhound in training.
And for those who might question the old girl’s will to still be racing, she ran second in an A5 at Yarmouth last night; her 180th outing.
She is the last surviving member of particularly robust litter with four runners each having contested in excess of 130 races.
But then eight members of the Farneys Cookie/Riverside Lucy have contested 1,021 races between them! An average of 128 races each!
Of all the tracks, Doncaster (5) and Swindon (8) consistently seem to have large numbers of hounds staying in training.
Not for the first time, we find ourselves asking – why?
Now they aren’t the two highest grade tracks racing under rules, but they certainly aren’t the lowest either!
The Swindon octet include Darryl Porter’s two blue litter sisters Confey Blue and Confey Honey.
The Doncaster centurions include the remarkable Catunda Tom who continues to pop up in the Performance of the Week feature. He has won five A2s and an A1 since the start of the year.
Who was it that said the that 39 kilo dogs can’t stay sound?
