Popular Kinsley regular Lundhill Bess will contest a race in her honour to mark her 200th appearance and retirement on Sunday.
The January 2016 daughter of Droopys Cain and Farkland Rose is owned and trained by Barnsley based Sylvia Oakes and has raced her entire career at the same track. She leaves the sporting arena in fine shape having only been out of the tricast places once in her last 14 races.
Sylvia said: “I looked after he mum for Terri Leach and after she whelped the litter, Terri surprised me by giving me Bess and her brother Lundhill Harry at eight weeks. Harry did well too (122 races) but was picking up a few sand burns so I retired him.
“Bess reached A2 when she was younger but was really a stayer. She reached S2 but there were never really enough races for her.
“She’ll live as a pet with us after Sunday along with the others. That will make four retireds and five racers.”
