Following another tough week filling racecards Henlow’s Paul Mellor is once again delaying closure of the track’s Sunday night opens until Thursday noon.

He said: “It is tough enough to begin with but kennel sickness is playing havoc. Eric Cantillon is the latest to take his 14 runners off the card. He was saying at this stage he isn’t sure who is over it and who is about to go down with it and he doesn’t want to make matters worse by bringing the problem here.
“The extra opens at Harlow and Towcester on Tuesday nights haven’t helped. Sheffield has always been there, but they seldom affect us.
“Personally, I would love to see the GBGB scrap the rule that trainers must keep their dogs in kennels. The rules of kennels are getting tougher and tougher and there is no good reason for it.”
