The threat of being forced to retire has brought out the best in veteran runner Magna Harp writes Jason Craddock.
Trainer Ron Thompson was considering retiring the October 08 daughter of Westmead Joe but he may have to rethink the idea after she won four races on the bounce at Nottingham.
The veteran of 169 races started her winning sequence on December 13 when dead-heating in an A7 before winning again in the same grade.
She has since landed two A6 contests and is in danger of getting upgraded again.
Jason Smith deputy racing manager at the track joked: “Magna Harp was being lined up to go into the track’s rehoming scheme but she must have got wind of the idea and decided to pull her finger out so she can carry on racing.”
