Millwards Katy again set the standard in the semi-finals of the Coral Brighton Belle over 515 metres at Hove on Thursday.
Paul Young’s bitch, a 29.81sec heat winner, was soon clear and went on to beat Fabulous Milan by a length in 30.23sec (-20). 4-6 favourite King Danni was last of the four runners.
St Leger winner Roxholme Dream was the 4-5 favourite for the opening semi-final and favourite backers were in clover when she was narrowly in front around the opening bend.
However she finished fifth of five in a crowded race and it was left to Paul Young’s Jaytee India to edge out Airmount Duchess and Aero Babooshka by a short head and a neck in a pedestrian 30.80sec.
Kevin Hutton’s Dorotas Blue clocked the fastest time of the night in the heats of the Alan Etherington Memorial Stakes over 515 metres when he led from the opening turn and beat Ninja Turbo by just over two lengths in 30.13sec.
Claude Gardiner’s Tadys Robin landed a scrappy second qualifier when edging out subsequently disqualified Glenpadden Oak by a short head in 30.20sec.
