Seamus Cahill’s Droopys Jarrow went to traps the 4-5 favourite but was never a factor.
Paul Young’s Jaytee Firefly trapped to the front and went clear but Tony Collett’s Kentish Kan, a semi finalist in December’s Comerford Cakes National Puppy Stake, came from last to first to get up on the line and score by a short head in 30.18sec (-20).
Quickest performance over the trip came from Wayne Wrighting’s Sleepy Joejoe, who made all in the Maiden contest to account for Tadys Robin by just over four lengths in 30.11sec.
Alec Stone’s Alma Prince warmed up for the Regency with victory in the sole Trial Stakes over 695 metres.
The Nottingham track champion came from last to first to nail Golden Jacket runner-up Bubbly Time on the line and score by half a length in 41.96sec (-30).
Tony Taylor’s Brinkleysdominic (5-1) upset short-priced favourite Britania Belucky in the Novice Stayers Contest when leading off the third turn to last home by a head in 41.89sec.
