Robert Gleeson’s Droopys Flytline took the €25000.00 to the winner Time Greyhound Nutrition Juvenile Derby Final in great style at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night.  Not perfectly away he soon paced up to take the lead as his competitors crowded on the inside and as they headed along the back straight the race became a clear match between himself and the Patrick Cocoman owned and trained Short Grip.  Though the latter closed on the run in it was the Gleeson trained youngster who prevailed by a length in a top class 2793.  The victory was the eighth in a career so far spanning just nine races with his sole defeat coming when finishing runner up in the second round of this competition behind Liam Dowling’s Irish Derby semi finalist De Lahdedah.

Flytline is jointly owned by breeder Michael Dunphy and Alice Gleeson with Dunphy explaining “I’d initially sent him up to Robert to be trained for myself as with him being from the last crop of Laughil Blake’s and as he’d always showed a great deal of early in his schooling I thought it best to keep hold of him.  Robert asked could they take a share in him and that wasn’t an issue and every credit to himself and the team they’ve done a great job.  Flytline already has a litter on the ground here to Droopys Meteor who are around 6 or 7 weeks old now.  His next big target will likely be the night of stars (winter festival).  I’d like to thank the sponsors Time Greyhound Nutrition.  Without support from people like themselves competitions like this wouldn’t be viable so a big thanks must go their way”.
