Towcester were comfortably oversubscribed for the Stadium Bookmakers Juvenile Classic which gets underway on Sunday afternoon.
Sixty entries were received for the 48 runner event including some exciting unexposed youngsters hoping to emulate last year’s winner Brookside Richie. Intriguingly, Arkady, from the winning kennel is David Mullins’ sole entry this year.
Prior to inexplicably easing in the final of the ARC Puppy Trophy at Sunderland last week, the blue brindle had strung together six consecutive wins including a run within 10 spots of the Sunerland 450m track record. Earlier today he solo-ed at Towcester clocking 29.53 on normal going on his first look at the track.
Racing manager Andy Lisemore said: “He stumbled at the start and looks to have lost somewhere within the region of two lengths, so you would certainly expect him to be among the big players.”
However the event is packed plenty of exciting talent including two entries from Brendan Matthews.
