Greyhound of the Year Cornamaddy Jumbo had his first handslip back after injury at Towcester on Wednesday.
The dog sustained a gracilis muscle injury at the end of 2014 and his career appeared to be in the balance.
Trainer Mark Wallis said: “Delighted with the handslip. He came off well and there was no reaction. If all goes to plan, we will give him a sprint trial next week – possibly, if there is a slot available, before racing on Trainers Championship night at Sittingbourne.
