Southfield Jock, who won the £5,000 to the winner Lawrence Jones Memorial Puppy Trophy at the track in December went quickest in trials before racing at Monmore on Thursday in preparation for the forthcoming Ladbrokes Puppy Derby over 480 metres.
Seamus Cahill’s runner did 28.36sec, which was two spots faster than his kennelmate Ballymac Manix, who won his only pen race start at Wimbledon before Christmas.
Richard Devenish’s Romany Rouge, who has won his last two at Nottingham, won his two dog trial in 28.46sec.
