A double for recently sacked Jim Reynolds and a return to winning for Fivestar Clipper were the main news stories at Romford on Friday.
Reynolds, who had eight runners on the open race card laid down a marker with the first of them as 4-1 chance Swamp Thing won the opening sprint in 13.65 (225m). The double came courtesy of 8-1 chance Borna Genie who clocked 35.63 in a Champion Stakes trialstake.
Fivestar Clipper (Hondo Black-Lively Clipper, Aug 12) made it 28 wins in 45 Romford appearances when taking a £500 575m final his winning time was 35.41.
However it was Mark Wallis’ new ‘Romford 575 find’ Rubys Rascal (Razldazl George-Swift Eva, Jul 14) who went fastest on the night with a 35.38 run. Quickest over four bends was Frank Gray’s Droopys Nissan (Yeah Man-Droopys Hilda, Nov 13) who extended his recent Romford form to five wins from his last seven races.
