Jem Racing’s Martin Johnstone work up with a smile this morning after betting carnage in the Golden Crest at Poole on Tuesday night.
All four favourite were turned over, though all qualified for the semi finals.
Ante post favourite Roxholme Ted was the biggest shock when third at 4-9f behind 9-2 chance Glenpadden Bolt (9-2) in 26.74.
The opening heat had got to local Aimnfire (11-4) in 26,76 with Jo Burridge’s exciting youngster Ninja Diva (11-10f) back in third.
It was another local, Costa (6-1), who routed Kippers Usain (2-1f) in the fastest time of the night, 26.57.
My Real Mutley (5-2) made it four from four for the chalkmeisters when overturning On Alert (2-1f) in 26.67.
Johnstone, a regular sponsor at the Dorset venue, said: “The last heat was well punted and we lost on the race, but the other three were all good for us.
“We have also had a tremendous ante post book with most of the well back dogs going out. I’d like to put it on record that a night like this is far from the norm at Poole (‘Whatever’ – Ed).
“Overall, I still think Roxholme Ted looks the likely winner. He missed his break and was impeded throughout but put in a very strong performance.
“I think the overall quality of the event was the best we have seen in a long time. It has encouraged me to want to stage Super Paws later in the year if a date can be found.
“There is another potential sponsor of a six-bend event to run alongside it, so hopefully we can repeat this level of interest.”
