Maireads Ivy’s (Hondo Black-Winning Impact, Nov 14) return to racing following a lay-off might have come too late for a TV Trophy tilt but she made up for it with victory in the £2,500 Jay & Kay Coach Tours Kent St.Leger.
Derek Knight’s 2-1f, who was off the track from August to November and had finished second in each of her five outings, justified punter’s support by catching Meadow at the fifth bend and pulling away for a two and a quarter length win in 45.28 for the 714m.
