Diego Flight (College Causeway-Diego’s Lady, Mar 13), who clocked the fastest time in the heats of the Clonmel Unraced Stake (28.81 calc), made a successful British debut in heat one of the Coral Thursday Maiden heats over 515 metres at Hove last night writes Jason Craddock.
Liz McNair’s runner overcame plenty of early trouble before leading at the third turn and beating Magical Hotch by almost two lengths in 30.68sec.
However his time was eclipsed by local runner Joes Mixa (Head Bound-Turn It Up, Apr 12). Claude Gardiner’s runner flew out of the boxes and was soon well clear, eventually coming home over six lengths clear of Paul Young’s heavily backed debutant Underground Star in 30.37sec (-30).
Jason Foster’s Farran Eddie made all in the third heat to hold Wayne Wrighting’s Sleepy Joejoe in 30.55sec.
