At Dundalk, Ardnasool Jet didn’t record the fastest time in the Irish Sprint Cup, but he was only six spots slower than Droopys Steel and is still a pup.
There was an interesting winner at Enniscorthy where Astute Missile’s half brother Karlow Eddie recorded the fastest 550 of the year. What a great brood China Doll has proven from David Donegan.
The Waterford nomination was put forward by former racing manager Tony Smith who wrote: “The little bitch puppy Raytown Amy (55lb) who crashed into the fence in only her second race, lost confidence in her next few runs, has now won her last four at Waterord including the Irish Greyhound Derby Trial Stake last night, where she beat the giant Borna Rise (90lb) probably the heaviest racer in Ireland. It was like a Walt Disney cartoon watching the giant chasing the minnow down the backstraight, but it typical David v Goliath she pulls it off. Worth a watch just for the fun of it.”
The performance of the week though has to go to the fastest 525 yard run at Galway this year as 2017 pup Magical Tess recorded 28.70 in the heats of the Corrib Plate.
