Only one place to start, the GAIN Select Stakes at Waterford and a victory for Graham Holland’s second string, Lughill Robbie, owned by Larry O’Rourke. However, the nomination goes to the remarkable pup Droopys Ant who continues to outperform the all-aged runners with an unbeaten run in the unraced stake in the fastest time of the night.
Larry is also the sponsor of the Munster Juvenile won by Owen McKenna’s Colarhouse Gerry, though the two year, two month old Colarhouse Gerry is pipped to the nomination by 28.58 winner, Leevalley Dancer. Seven winners broke 29.00 on the night, a great credit to the track staff. The week’s other decent sized final went to John McGee’s Down The Green in the Newbridge Oaks.
We have a slightly strange one at Mullingar where Liscahane Madi seemingly broke the 550 clock. However, assuming the racecard distance is wrong, the nod goes to the week’s fastest 525 winner Allowdale Sarah.
As for Shelbourne Park, a slow track on Saturday gives us an opportunity to highlight a couple of successful pups earlier in the week, Ballylougheen Ivy and Jaytee Ruby.
