Ballinakill Alf was the quickest of the four Juvenile Derby heat winners on Saturday with a 28.10 run for Shelbourne’s 525 yards. Over the extra 50 yards, Undulation clocked the fastest time of the year.
The Irish Laurels got underway on Saturday night with Easy Razzle and Ballinakill Alf’s litter brother Jacktavern Bolt clocking identical FON runs, 28.07.
At Limerick, Hukum landed the fastest semi final of the Irish Cambridgeshire with a 41.29 run for the 750 yards. At Lifford, Gizmo Cash clocked the joint fastest sprint run over the 325 yard course,17.25.
Seventeen month old Vis A Vis produced a worthy run at Thurles. With the next quickest winner clocking 29.13, the debutant won by nine in 28.94.
One final snippet to note. It wouldn’t be so long ago that it might struggle to find a five year old winning a race in Ireland. At Youghal on Wednesday there were three on the same card.
